CaptchaCaptcha Prints & Zine

Here's a look at another project I've been working on for the past few months. Between this blog and my music blog, I post a lot of links to Facebook (sorry friends!) and the majority of the time I have to fill out a captcha form to verify I'm not spamming. I started to notice how absurd some of the captcha's were, so I started to collect them. When it came time to start working on a project for the Royal Bison I figured why not use the collection of random words I had accumulated. In the end I had 18 framed collages and a small black and white zine. All 18 prints will be available at the Royal Bison next weekend. Come by and visit! Check out a few examples after the jump.

Busy

WHOA! In the last 48 hours life has gone from pretty laid back to super busy. I could not be more excited about it. More rad news to come soon. For now, check out this wacky carved watermelon. From here on out, I only carve watermelons. So over pumpkins.

What We Saw Zine

Recently I got word that I would be participating in the 9th Royal Bison. I'm really excited and have a ton of great ideas for it. Royal Bison is always a great time filled with some amazingly talented artists, so it's always an honor to participate.

Anyways, another I project I finished recently was the design and layout of my pal Kevin's new poetry book, which is due out any day now. Kevin is an awesome writer and I wanted to work with him on another project, so I approached him about doing a collab zine/poetry book. After some discussion we both agreed that finishing it for the Bison was not really feasible, so instead I decided to work with the lyrics from his band, Stalwart Sons, full length Burn Daylights Like Torches. The lyrics on this album are really great, full of rich imagery. (Also...the music is fantastic. Killer Record. Buy it!) Perfect for creating images! I decided to create a digital collage for each song on the record.

"What We Saw" will be available at my table at the Royal Bison on November 27th and 28th. Check out a few of the pages after the jump. I'll post a few more of my projects I have in the works in a few days.

A Case of the Mondays.

Winter came today and while I have sort of been patiently awaiting it's return, I was not prepared for the blanket of white that I saw when I awoke. This video reminded me of how tired I have been lately. How I need to get out and start living a much more meaningful and enriching life. It's hard spending your day looking for work and trying to occupy your idle hands and mind. I feel like I wasted the last 3 weeks of my life doing nothing. Being an adult is hard.
